Humans began domesticating dogs thousands of years ago. The many different types and breeds of dog today are a direct result of cross breeding. In an effort to combine the most phoenix dog training desirable characteristics of all dogs into one, we have created dozens of new breeds. The dogs may look different but, there are some genetic characteristics that are still and always will be common to all dogs. Some of these undesirable genetic characteristics in dogs can be modified with understanding and patience
The dog’s natural ways to communicate are barking, whining, howling and growling. These behaviors are common and expected but, any of these things in excess can be very annoying and stressful for humans.
Genetics do play a major role in a dogs tendency to phoenix dog training bark but there are other factors that may cause your dog to bark inappropriately. Small dog breeds seem to have a tendency to bark, whine, howl and growl more often than the larger breeds. It is important to understand this factor first and then determine what other triggers are causing this behavior in your dog.
Dogs are not solitary animals, in the wild they live in packs with a chain of command much like humans. They do not naturally like to be left alone and may respond in a variety of ways, this is another genetic trait. Your dog is anxious to please you and enjoys positive praise.
1. Never leave your dog chained in the yard without human interaction. I can’t see the point of having a dog if this is how he will live.
2. When you do let your dog out make sure he is chained with plenty of room to move around. Keep your dog safe and do not let him run loose around the neighborhood or allow other dogs access to him when he is confined outside. Provide shelter from the elements and when he starts barking, bring him in.
3. Don’t leave your dog in a locked room or a dog crate unnecessarily. These situations can cause extreme frustration for your pet, possibly increasing the behavior. Dog crates are a wonderful house training aid, but they are very confining. Dogs are sociable animals and need to be taught how to behave properly not locked away.
4. Make sure he gets plenty of exercise, especially when he is young and has a lot of energy. Always walk your dog using a leash for his own safety, no matter how well he listens.
5. When correcting your dog use a tone of voice slightly louder than your normal tone, you should never yell at your dog.
6. Punishments and corrective measures need to be applied immediately for the dog to understand what he has done wrong. Use simple one or two word commands and be consistent. Always reward your dog with lots of praise for good behavior.
Undesirable behavior will be easier to correct once you understand what is causing it. There are bark collars and muzzles that can prevent your dog from inappropriate barking, but I would encourage you to have patience and understand your dog first. You do have the ability to help your dog learn to behave appropriately. See your veterinarian regularly and discuss any behavioral issues with them as well.
